16 Hours Later... Only the Contacts Made It

At SCV Global, we help customers switch phones every day. Most upgrades are smooth, straightforward, and completed within a few hours.

But sometimes, things don't go according to plan.

Recently, a customer purchased a new iPhone and wanted to transfer all of his data from an Android device. Like many users, he expected the process to be simple and seamless.

What followed became one of the longest data transfer experiences we have ever encountered.

Hour 3 — Still Waiting...

The transfer process started normally.

At around 34.27%, everything appeared to be working as expected. The customer waited patiently while our team monitored the process and made sure both devices remained connected.

At this stage, nobody expected what would happen next.

We simply thought it was taking longer than usual.

Hour 16 — Almost There... Or So We Thought

Many hours later, the transfer finally reached 86.88%.

Everyone became hopeful.

After waiting for nearly 16 hours, we believed the process was finally approaching the finish line.

Unfortunately, it never got there.

The transfer failed.

After almost an entire day of waiting, only one thing successfully made it to the new iPhone:

The Contact List.

Photos remained on the old device.

WhatsApp migration was incomplete.

App data did not transfer properly.

Years of memories, conversations, and personal information stayed behind.

The Most Valuable Part of a Smartphone

This experience reminded us of something important.

The most valuable part of a smartphone is not the hardware.

It's the data stored inside.

Family photos.

Videos of precious moments.

Messages from loved ones.

Important work conversations.

Personal notes, documents, and memories collected over many years.

Today, our phones have become a digital record of our lives.

That is why situations like this can feel so frustrating.

A Reminder for Android Users Switching to iPhone

If you're planning to switch from Android to iPhone, please be prepared for the possibility that not all data may transfer successfully.

• Always create a backup before starting.
• Keep your old device until everything has been verified.
• Allow extra time for migration.
• Be prepared for partial data loss or transfer failures.

While most transfers are successful, there are still cases where technical issues occur despite using official migration tools.

Phones Can Be Replaced. Memories Cannot.

As a retailer, we always do our best to assist customers during the migration process.

However, some technical limitations remain outside the control of both customers and retailers.

We sincerely hope Apple, Android, WhatsApp, and the companies behind these migration technologies continue improving the experience.

Switching devices should be easier.

More reliable.

And far less stressful.

Because at the end of the day, people are not worried about losing a phone.

They are worried about losing the memories, conversations, and moments stored inside it.
